Available on Netflix since July 24, 2026, Los creyentes (The Truthers) marks José Coronado’s return to the psychological thriller genre, in a film directed by Roger Gual. The Spanish actor shares the screen with Stéphanie Magnin in a story where family tensions and unspoken truths occupy a central place.

A prominent figure in Spanish cinema and television, José Coronado has built a career spanning nearly forty years, marked by a remarkable diversity of roles. A two-time Goya Award winner, he has appeared in acclaimed productions such as La caja 507, No habrá paz para los malvados, El Cuerpo, and The Invisible Guest (Contratiempo), alongside Mario Casas and Ana Wagener. International audiences have also discovered him through series such as Entrevías and The Snow Girl (La Petite Fille sous la neige). Over the years, he has developed an acting style based on restraint, where silences, expressions, and subtle changes in his gaze are as meaningful as the spoken words.

In Los creyentes, José Coronado portrays Martín, a recently retired man whose behaviour raises questions for his daughter, who returns following the death of her mother. As the story unfolds, certainties gradually give way to doubt, within a family relationship shaped by secrets and things left unsaid.

His performance follows this growing tension without attempting to overemphasise it. Silences, glances, and moments of hesitation play an essential role, gradually revealing the different layers of his character. This understated approach, present throughout much of his filmography, allows the audience to interpret the emotions and intentions that emerge as the story progresses.

With Los creyentes, José Coronado returns to a type of role he has explored throughout his career: complex characters whose motivations are gradually revealed. A performance that extends a filmography deeply connected to thrillers and psychological dramas, while reflecting an approach to acting built on nuance rather than effect.
